meilan_firagaI'm a mid-thirties gamer nerd living in Northeast Ohio with my partner. While we don't currently have any pets, I'm hopeful we'll be welcoming a fur baby into our home at some point in the future. I love dogs and also love cats as long as I don't have to clean the litterbox, lol. I've previously had two dogs in my adult life, both of which were adopted. Dino was with me from the time he was two until he died of complications relating to polycystic kidneys when he was eight. About a year and a half after I lost him, I became the retirement home for a friend's sled dog, Loki. Loki was ten when he came to live with me in 2018, and I cared for him until he succumbed to cancer in October of 2023.
I have a degree in and work as part of the gaming industry. While I studied with the intention of working for a video game company, I've actually ended up in the tabletop gaming industry. I work for a company that builds live-action D&D inspired adventures at conventions. I've been with them for a year now, and I am still immensely in love with what I do. Every time I see a player get excited over a combat or a story beat it warms my heart.
Aside from fandom I love to read, play video games, keep up with movies and shows, and to EAT. Food is life, as Eliot Spencer would say. My partner and I cook dinner together most nights, and it is honestly one of the best parts of my days. I also have a serious love for pro-wrestling (specifically AEW) and may sometimes post about that, but you aren't likely to ever find me writing fanfic for it.
I originally set up a Dreamwidth account because it seemed like a lot of the old LJ-style fandom stuff moved here. I'm still trying to get the hang of the platform mostly because I am out of practice with blogging. Please bare with me as I try to get back in the swing of things.
I tend to be a bit of a fandom-hopper. I follow the dopamine, lol. I do have a few standards that I tend to drift back to like the MCU and Game of Thrones. I was once always comfortable in the Harry Potter fandom, but I absolutely do not agree with the author's stances on trans rights and find myself avoiding it more often than not. I may one day post my very complicated feelings on HP, but that's a whole other can of worms.
